Deck & garden/exterior

Wanted something very airy, bright and open for our home so we opted for a semi-open plan. Added a breakfast nook that peeked through the kitchen a bit so diners could still interact with whoever occupied the living area. We kept in mind that family would come over most of the time and while we can't have more than 6 in the dining area, we could create a layout that allowed conversation even when people were situated in different parts of the communal areas.

I created an all-white canvas through walls and flooring since the house isn't too big and white really opens up any space. Black walls by the entrance and the exterior/sidings (not shown) create the perfect contrast. We're not big fans of color so an achromatic scheme through the architectural elements and furniture was a natural choice. Plants and lighting provide the perfect warmth and cozy touch to an otherwise stark space.

Hope you liked this sneak peek!

Milan photo diary [part 3 of 3] - Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2014

A mandatory photo of me at the venue just so this trip grants me points for my CPE booklet (we need it to maintain our Interior Design license, haha!)

Some planters made of polyethylene...

And some polyethylene lamps! My dad requires me to take photos of everything-PE since that's what we manufacture, after all.

Cute.

Chic, clean workspace idea.

Love these rainbow side tables!

And this clean desk.

Kartell was all about the GOLD this year.

I liked how Vitra fenced their booth- some clear plastic boxes with lights in specific areas.

Dedon's booth reminded me of their luxury resort, Dedon Island. They played jungle music with matching thunder and rain in the background.

LOVE the giant mirrored planters.

I wish I could take photos of everything! Salone really inspired me as a designer. There's another architectural show within the year and I want to attend that, too. This is certainly the most creative furniture/interior show I've been to although I love Manila FAME as well since it features so many of our local designers with a totally different aesthetic. This is just grander in scale.

Hope you guys enjoyed looking through the photos as I did taking them! You can view part 1 of my Milan photo diary here and part 2 here

Milan photo diary [part 2 of 3] - Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2014

The Salone del Mobile was the main reason why I traveled to Milan a few months ago [view part 1 here]. I don't really travel out of the country unless it's business-related or if I know I can attend a convention in the city [Instagram is deceptive]. This was my first time to attend Salone and I think every designer should go at least once or twice!

those planters are EVERYTHING.

My dad goes crazy each time we come across a booth with things made of polyethylene [well that's what we make, after all].

Strategic placement of lights create a tunnel illusion! This mirror was so cool.

I was happy to find the Filipino designers' booth! They were 11 showcasing in this space. Also glad I bumped into Kenneth C. and got to introduce him to my parents (dad's a fan).

I'll forever love shelves that serve as partitions.

Sleek boy's room.
