BoConcept 60th Anniversary Launch

Last September 18 I was invited to the 60th anniversary celebration of international retailer BoConcept at their flagship store located in High Street. Their new collection had a playful and vintage feel that showcased fabrics designed in the 50's by renowned Danish textile designer and weaver, Vibeke Klint. I really enjoyed the tour and I'm glad that they allowed me to take photos so I could show the beautiful pieces with all of you!

It is clear that the home grows in importance and the look of the home also displays the longing for old virtues and traditions. We mainly look back to the  50’s and 60’s with the American ‘Mad men’ TV series as the perfect reference.

In the BoConcept 2013 collection you find many stylish pieces matching this trend. The sofa is comfortable yet still elegant. The choice of material defines the look in the room – exclusive black leather for that formal and elegant look or a petrol blue for a more feminine setting.  The coffee table combines 2 types of wood and is used as display for elegant glass vases and designer books.

Both arm chairs and dining chairs have a classic, clean look and focus on comfort is high. Colours are deep and mature and of course beautifully coordinated for a stylish, well-balanced look.

Customers are given the freedom to choose the fabrics for a selection of sofas and chairs. You can also customize the thickness of the armrests and height of the backrests. It takes about 2 months to have them produced but I think it's definitely worth it if you're very particular about the design and comfort. If you're having a house built, that's about the same amount of time for the interiors to get done. Your furniture will be ready in time for the decoration stage!

Those Karim chairs were really comfortable

I NEED the black one!

The chubby Bergen sofa designed by Anders Nørgaard is as comfortable as it looks. Something you definitely cannot keep in your home if you plan to get some work done, but it is ideal in front of the telly for those nights when you just want to veg out. It feels like a big cloud you can just drown in!

Get the Bergen if you're not a fan of skinny, minimalistic designs and if you want a more laid-back sofa. Again, the fabric/color, armrest thickness and back height can be customized to whatever you want it to be. I can imagine owning one of these in dark brown leather, positioned right in the middle of my library.

The other strong trend this coming season is a look based on the German Bauhaus style with all its graphic lines and signal colours. It is casual, optimistic and playful and mixes prints, patterns and colours in unexpected ways.  The look is very much defined by the use of accessories - a personal mix of cushions in funny shapes and edgy prints in the modular sofa, quirky sculptures in natural materials and metal lamps with an industrial look.

This was my favorite. The midnight blue and brown combo still managed to keep the look sexy.
